Btoy lives in Barcelona. One of her interests is to use what might be called a “mur trouvé” with its irregular surfaces, adding remains of pollution and ads, where doors and windows boarded become appropriate frameworks for self-expression in her work. Walls sought and found, not so random, they become an ideal medium to disseminate the work. read more

Located in the outer fringes of a multi-layered imaginative mind, one simple glance seems enough to take in all the colorful, weird, funny, exciting, cosy and warm features of Planet Fire – a visual universe, brainchild of Diogo Machado. And yet, the visual complexity of some ofhis creations demands a deeper, more meaningful look, as amid the stylish, dynamic artwork there are often small and unexpected details operating on a whole different level of meaning. In this duality of propositions – the simple and the complex – lies the vitality of his universe. Ever since he set off on this journey, his visual probes have beentraveling far and wide, from the digital to the handmade he has collaborated withrenown entities, brands and galleries. He now splits his life between the love for illustration and drawing and the need to use the streets as his personal gallery to play with peoples’s minds and attention, adding pieces of “renewed tradition” – the tile panels; adding fuel to help fire up the colorlessness that permeates our daily lives. Diogo Machado excels in creating imaginary worlds, where he combines fictional characters, decorative elements, a distinctive trait, an omnipresent humor and a remarkable sense of symmetry. In the series of tiles that he stencils or lays on the walls, he creates the idea of a trompe l’oeil, leading us to believe that these are scenes inspired in a medieval universe; such is the rigor with which he draws. However, when we’re closer and see the tiles carefully, we discover a completely contemporary composition of figures and creatures. Whether in Ceramic or stencil, Diogo is a self-educated artist who uses the streets as a gallery with a pop and strange world, were irony is always present
